The Story

The 9th century. Bulgaria stands at the edge of a fateful change — a state torn between the age-old traditions of its pagan past and the relentless advance of a Christian future. In a world where faith and tradition collide head-on, every personal choice becomes a matter of life and death.

In the eye of this storm lives Kelara — a young woman deeply marked by loss, seeking solace and meaning in the old gods. Her path crosses that of Bayan — the firstborn son of a powerful clan, torn between duty to his family and his own desires.

Between them a love kindles, unsteady as a flame in the wind — a love that holds the power to save them, and to destroy them.

And as tension across the land escalates and the boyars plot rebellion, the believers in Son rise against the new power. Kelara and Bayan must make the hardest choice — to follow the voice of their hearts, or to bow before the relentless march of history.

First Chapter

The Priestess's Hearth

The fire never went out. Not even on the nights when the north wind howled and snow piled against the threshold, not even then — Kela was awake.

Not because she had to be. Because she could not stop being so.

The fire remembered things people had forgotten. She had taught it to keep secrets — and it had taught her to burn without being consumed.

But tonight, something had changed. Something had entered the village before the snow. And the fire knew it.
